Tea spills

- AASTHA SUBEDI

Jul 10, 2019-

Mom,

The clean sheet in this bed

Reminds me of something deep and vague

That I was made to give up along the way

The part of me that has flown away,

But still the corner of the bed holds them

Like the stains hidden under the mattresses

Mom,

It flew away

First, slowly and gradually

Then, fast and abruptly

Often, forcefully

Mostly, to please you

Always, to meet thy expectations

Mom,

I miss the stains in the bed-sheet

The stories of bygone time

When I could still be a child,

Playful,

Full of fun,

Full of life

Mom,

I can’t be mature enough

And kill the child inside my heart

Let my bedsheet hold some tea stains!
