Apr 9, 2019-

A diarrhoea outbreak has afflicted at least 25 people in Bara’s Pheta Rural Municipality that suffered heavy destruction in the March 31 rainstorm.

The disease has stalked the displaced people in Bhulahi, Bharbaliya, Gachhiya Tol and Purainiya settlements.

There has also been reports about diarrhoea outbreak in wards 5 and 8 of Subarna Rural Municipality.

Health workers said the outbreak was caused due to open defecation practice, water contamination and consumption of dried and ready-to-eat processed food.

Since the rainstorm, most of the survivors have only been eating noodles, biscuits and bitten rice.

Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Sangam Diwedi said that 12 diarrhoea people were treated at a health camp in Bharbaliya on Monday.

The health authority has set up five health camps in the rainstorm-affected areas.

“We are treating more than 30 patients whose conditions are serious,” said Kuran Ali, a health worker at Pheta Rural Municipality.
