Bhutan coach slams ‘pathetic’ management
Mar 13, 2019-
Bhutan’s head coach Sung Jae Lee vented ire at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) criticising the fifth SAFF Women’s Championship organisers for a poor management. Speaking to the press after a 3-0 loss against the hosts, Lee said he was not seeking excuse for the defeat and termed the management ‘pathetic’.
“This is not an excuse for the defeat. But the management aspect for a senior women’s tournament was really pathetic,” said Lee whose side was forced to change the hotel on Monday, a day after they arrived for the tournament on Sunday.
The Bhutanese team was kept at the Eastern Star upon their arrival. But they changed the hotel the next day due to disturbance caused by construction works in the facility. “This is a tournament of international teams and not an age group event. The hotel did not meet the standard for an international team. We were busy to change the hotel from 9:00AM to 4:00PM in the evening,” said a frustrated coach Lee.
“We even did not had training session yesterday (on Monday),” said the Korean national whose contingent had lunch at another hotel on Monday before settling at Harrison Hotel. “We should have taken rest and get prepared for the tournament but we had to waste our time searching for new place. I have never seen and gone through such incident as a coach in my life,” fumed Lee.
